MOVIE NEWS: The Weinstein Company has announced that Richard Shepard, director of the recent Pierce Brosnan film THE MATADOR, will direct the film version of Jeff Abbott's PANIC. Screenwriter Richard Regan has been signed to adapt. Read more about this here.
AUGUST 2005 THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY OPTIONS FILM RIGHTS TO PANIC NEW YORK, NEW YORK (August 17, 2005) - Bob and Harvey Weinstein announced today that The Weinstein Company has optioned the film rights to develop and produce PANIC, the highly anticipated novel from best-selling and award-winning author Jeff Abbott, which has generated enormous attention and will hit bookstores on Thursday. "Jeff Abbott has written a remarkable suspense thriller that provides the ideal framework for a riveting motion picture," company topper Harvey Weinstein said. "I am thrilled that the Weinstein Co. has optioned PANIC.
